Who runs the organization?

First Nations Knowledge Keepers Coalition is a Native American-led nonprofit organization run by Native Americans, dedicated to the empowerment and cultural voice of our communities. Our leadership and members are deeply committed to preserving, revitalizing, and implementing Indigenous cultural traditions and knowledge.

We focus on ensuring the survival of Native languages, traditional foods, land management practices, health practices, ceremonial customs, regalia making, storytelling, music, art, Native American recipes, and the use of traditional plants and herbs for medicine and sustenance. Our goal is to strengthen cultural identity while addressing the needs of Native communities nationwide.

Additionally, we are committed to expanding our coalition by collaborating with other Native-led nonprofits and grassroots organizations. By forming strong partnerships, we ensure that Native American communities receive comprehensive support—from cultural preservation to economic and social empowerment—allowing us to better serve our people from all sides.

What is the vision of the organization?

The First Nations Knowledge Keepers Coalition envisions a future where understanding, education, and compassion bridge the gap between Native American and non-Native communities, fostering mutual respect and deeper connections nationwide. We are committed to uplifting and amplifying the voices of all First Nations across the United States, ensuring their histories, cultures, and governance are recognized and valued.

Our long-term goal is to see the creation of a First Nations elected government, modeled after the federal government of the United States. This government would include an elected First Nations president, who would work alongside the President of the United States to guide, advise, and make decisions that prioritize the well-being of our lands, people, and shared future. This initiative aims to ensure political representation, respect, and sovereignty for Indigenous nations, securing their rightful place in shaping policies that impact Indian Country and the United States as a whole.

How does the organization preserve cultural knowledge?

The First Nations Knowledge Keepers Coalition is dedicated to preserving the invaluable cultural practices, stories, and wisdom of Native American Elders. We recognize that as our Elders pass on, so too does their traditional and cultural knowledge, which is why our mission is to safeguard and share this knowledge for future generations.

One of our primary focuses is supporting and uplifting Native American Knowledge Keepers—respected members of the community who serve as bridges between the past and present. These Knowledge Keepers preserve and pass down essential traditions, including Indigenous languages, cultural protocols, oral histories, songs, dances, ceremonies, traditional plant uses, and land stewardship practices.

We ensure the preservation of cultural knowledge through:

• Mentorship & Teaching: Supporting intergenerational learning by connecting youth and community members with Elders and Knowledge Keepers to ensure cultural teachings are passed down through mentorship and hands-on experiences.

• Community Engagement: Inviting Knowledge Keepers into schools, classrooms, and community spaces to share teachings, guide traditional ceremonies, and provide firsthand cultural education.

• Respect & Reciprocity: Encouraging proper engagement with Knowledge Keepers by fostering relationships built on trust, respect, and reciprocity, ensuring their wisdom is honored and valued.

• Hands-On Learning: Facilitating cultural field trips, land-based learning experiences, and storytelling sessions to strengthen connections to Indigenous ways of life.

• Language & Tradition Revitalization: Actively working to preserve and revitalize Indigenous languages, ensuring they remain a vital part of our communities.

• Documentation & Digital Preservation: Recording oral histories, teachings, and ceremonies to ensure they are protected and accessible for future generations.

Through these efforts, the First Nations Knowledge Keepers Coalition works tirelessly to protect and sustain Indigenous cultural heritage, ensuring that the deep wisdom of our ancestors continues to guide and empower future generations.
